Jason is Director of Regeneration and Business, Central Bedfordshire Council, where he leads the Regeneration and Business Directorate, developing an integrated approach to investment, development, regeneration, employment and skills, in close partnership with business and industry.
Prior to this, he held a number of Director-level positions in both private and public organisations including Regional Development Agency, County and Unitary bodies, driving growth and sustainable development.
A Regeneration and Projects Director with more than 25 years professional experience working within the legislative and statutory framework for Planning, Property Development and Fund Management Programmes. A chartered Town Planner since 1990, his career in the public and private sectors has involved a diverse range of client facing, leadership roles in delivering urban development projects. As a Founding Director of a business start-up in the highly regulated Renewable Energy Sector he was involved in attracting £80M of commercial investment to launch sustainable development schemes in the East Midlands. With more than 15 years’ experience he has built up an extensive investor and developer network across the Midlands and South East.
Chris is joint Managing Director of family firm Carr & Carr (Builders) Ltd, housing developers and general construction contractors. He is also Managing Partner in Carr Development Consultancy Ltd, advising Councils on how to engage with SME Developers, as well as giving general planning advice to self-builders and developers. He has held a number of senior roles with the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), where he is currently Chairman of the FMB Home Builders Group. Here he helps shape the FMB’s policy agenda, representing FMB house builder members, in discussions with senior civil servants and Ministers on new legislation.
His extensive experience includes working with the NHBC, the Zero Carbon Hub and a number of Local Authority housing, construction and skills advisory panels. He is a member of Humberside Land Developers and Lincolnshire Estates, both local land development companies and trustee of three local charities.
